K-9 Jerry and Handler Benjamin Ellis

State Park Peace Officer Benjamin Ellis and K-9 Jerry are both assigned to Hearst Castle in the San Luis Obispo Coast District. Jerry is a German shepherd born in Germany on July 5, 2021. While on duty, he is ready to find and apprehend uncooperative suspects while also protecting his partner. He is also certified in explosives detection, and tracking. All of Jerry’s commands are in German. Off duty, Jerry lives at home with Officer Benjamin Ellis and his “brother,” Guinness the Staffordshire terrier, in Morro Bay, California.
