K-9 Yukon and Handler Mark James

K-9 Yukon is a short hair, sable-colored German Shepherd. He was born in the Czech Republic on Dec. 3, 2018. Yukon and State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) James are assigned at Auburn State Recreation Area and Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area. Yukon is patrol-trained to find and apprehend dangerous suspects while also protecting Officer James. When he’s off duty, Yukon lives with Officer James and his family. He likes to relax in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and swim at his secret spots on the Middle Fork of the American River.
