K9 Blitz and handler Trevor Irace

K-9 Blitz is a sable-colored German Shepherd. He was born in the Czech Republic on Oct. 5, 2016. He and his handler, State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) Trevor Irace are assigned to Clear Lake State Park and Anderson Marsh State Historic Park. He is named Blitz for his speed and agility; a German word meaning “lightning” or the American football word for “rushing the quarterback.” Blitz is a patrol K-9 trained to find and apprehend dangerous suspects while also protecting his handler, other officers and the public. Blitz is certified in Narcotics Detection, Tracking, and Article Recovery. Blitz lives with Officer Irace while off duty. His favorite activities include running in circles (by himself) with his prized rubber ball and swimming at the dog beach.
