Michaele DeBoer

For the last 30 years, Michaele DeBoer has been a dedicated parks professional working for various park agencies in Southern California. Her most recent and longest tenure is with California State Parks as the Superintendent for the department's Community Involvement Section.  Working with park districts, community based organizations, local cities, counties, and the private sector, she has developed successful private/public partnerships and cultivated external funding sources to develop and implement several high quality outdoor recreational opportunities for the state's most underserved populations.  Award winning programs include FamCamp®, Outdoor Youth Connection™, and Beach Play Day. 

With a passion for being outdoors and working with people, she started with State Parks as a seasonal lifeguard in the Angeles District, and entered the permanent ranks in 1994 as a Lifeguard State Park Peace Officer at Huntington State Beach after completing the Orange County Sheriff's Academy. She has also worked as a ranger in the Orange Coast District.  Her experience includes working for the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department, where she developed the first County Lake Junior Lifeguard Program.  She holds a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Biology from California State University, Northridge.
