Dana Jones

Born in Berkeley and growing up in Livermore, Dana started her career with California State Parks in 1988 after graduating in 1986 from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Outdoor Recreation Administration and spending summers working for State Parks, National Parks and the US Forest Service.

Her now 26 year career with California State Parks has resulted in many exciting and varied opportunities all over California.  Starting as a Ranger in Southern California at Will Rogers State Historic Park, then on to Millerton Lake State Recreation Area, Big Basin Redwoods State Park as a Supervisor, Training Coordinator at the State Parks Training Center in Pacific Grove, the State Mining & Mineral Museum in Mariposa as a Museum Director,  then to the Off Highway Motor Vehicle Division as a District Superintendent managing Prairie City and Carnegie off road parks, back to parks in the Monterey area including Big Sur, Point Lobos SNR and the myriad of State Beaches along the Monterey Bay.  In 2012 she became a District Superintendent for the North Coast Redwoods District and was responsible for the State Parks from Pelican State Beach near the Oregon border to Standish Hickey (Mendocino) in the south.  In early 2013 Dana was asked to move to Sacramento to manage the Capital District which includes Museums and Historic Parks in and around Sacramento as well as Railtown 1897 in Jamestown.

In her spare time Dana enjoys working out (swimming, hiking and biking), watercolor painting and traveling.  As a single parent, Dana raised her son Matt and together they have visited Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Canada and Alaska.   Matt is in his third year of college at Clarion University near Pittsburg, where he is majoring in archaeology.
