Danita Rodriguez is the District Superintendent for the State Parks in the amazing and greater Bay Area. She has been a State Parks employee for almost 38 years, first starting her parks career as a seasonal park aid.  Prior to her assignment in the Bay Area in 2008, Danita worked along the Gaviota Coast in Santa Barbara County.  She has also worked at a number of park units throughout the State Parks System in the Sierra Nevada, Central Valley, North Coast Redwoods, and a busy, Southern California reservoir.  Danita graduated from Chico State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation and Parks Management and obtained her Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certificate from Butte College.  She was directly involved with underserved youth for a number of years and continues to actively support efforts for parks to be relevant to diverse populations.  Working in the Bay Area has provided many unique collaborative and partnership opportunities.  Throughout her career, she has participated on a number of community boards and committees.  While growing up, Danita gained her love for adventurous, outdoor activities which were attributed to family camping trips and living in the small, Southern California mountain community of Wrightwood, located in the San Gabriel Mountains.  Her motto:  Go Out and Play!
