Millerton Lake hires dozens of individuals yearly for our busy summer season. Seasonal employment typically runs March-September. Hiring for our seasonal positions begins in January. Be sure to check back for openings as they become available.

Seasonal Positions

Park Aide (Kiosk)

Typical tasks for Park Aides include collecting fees for park use at entrance kiosk, assigns campsites, accounts for funds, answers questions and gives directions to the public, prints up daily reports, assists with public information and educational program and coordinate emergency vehicle response and the reporting of Park emergencies related to entrance station operations.

Maintenance Aide

Maintenance Aides perform a variety of manual labor work in raking, shoveling, loading, unloading, stacking, and removing debris, brush, refuse, scrap lumber, and rubble to prepare or maintain State property; assists in the demolition of unsafe structures by burning, razing, or disassembling; hoes or chops brush, hand-grades terrain, waters shrubs, cuts lawns, and clears firebreaks and trails; washes garbage cans and works on garbage pickup crew; maintains and operates light vehicles; cleans restrooms and other facilities; picks up litter; and washes windows.

Lakes Lifeguard I

This is the entry level for the seasonal lifeguard series. Under supervision, incumbents detect and rescue persons and vessels in distress; take command in emergencies; perform first-aid and resuscitation procedures; notify headquarters of accidents and rescues; prepare reports; remove hazards; assist the public and advise visitors of park rules and regulations. A Lifeguard I (Seasonal) learns to operate emergency vehicles, inspect and perform maintenance on emergency rescue equipment and vehicles; and other duties as needed.

1. First, create a CalCareers account and search for an assessment that aligns with your interests.


2. Once you've found an assessment you'd like to take, go ahead and complete it. If you successfully complete the assessment, you will become eligible to apply for any open positions in that classification.


3. Finally, keep an eye out for job openings that interest you and apply for them through your CalCareers account. Remember, we are here to help you during your journey to employment with California State Parks!
