Camping at Millerton Lake

With warm springs, hot summers, and cool winters the region’s temperate climate makes our campgrounds a great option for camping year-round. Most camp loops have restrooms equipped with flushing toilets and quarter operated showers. Meadows Loop and Group Camps are open year-round; all others open April- September. Walk-Ins welcome, subject to availability.

Campground Loops-

Open Year-round

Meadows (Site# 92-148): Offers Full hookup sites (#120-144) and standard sites (92-116) Flushing toilets and showers available.

Group Camps: Large Group site can accommodate up to 75 persons and 25 vehicles. The cost of this site is $200 per night. Small Group can accommodate up to 40 persons and 15 vehicles at $150 per night. Group sites do not offer hook-ups. Pit-toilets on-site, flushing toilets and showers shared between both group sites.

Horse Camp: Offers horse three horse stalls with water trough. Ample parking for RV and trailer. Chemical toilet and shade structure.

Open Seasonally (April-September)

Fort Miller (Site# 38-75): Standard sites that can accommodate campers/trailers, no hook ups. Flushing toilets and showers available.

Mono/ Rocky Point (Site#1-37): Standard sites. Not recommended for large RVs or trailers, best for tent camping. Flushing toilets and showers available.

Dumna Strands (Site# 76-83): Primitive campsites, Tent camping Only w/ chemical toilets.

Valley Oak (Site #85-90): Primitive campsites, Tent camping Only w/ chemical toilets.

ADA Campsites: Rocky Point loop features four newly completed ADA sites. Fort Miller has one additional site. Meadows loop has four sites equipped with full hook-ups.

Capacity: Campsites are limited to eight persons/three vehicles. One vehicle included per campsite with reservation. Additional vehicles will be charged overnight vehicle fee*.

*No overnight parking outside of designated campsites

Off-season Check-ins (October-March): Individuals holding reservations made through Reserve California may proceed directly to their campsite. For walk-in reservations, please check-in with the camp host for availability and fee collection.

Summer-season Check-ins (April-September): All reservation holders should check-in with the park aide at the kiosk before proceeding to their campsite. For walk-ins, the park aide will be able to provide you with information on available campsites and collect fees once a site selection is made.

Check-in/Check-out: 2:00PM/ NOON

Quiet Hours: 10:00PM – 8:00AM. No loud voices during quiet hours. Be courteous; allow everyone to enjoy their visit.

Generators: Use is permitted from 10:00AM – 8:00PM

Campfires: Campfires are permitted in fire rings provided in campsites only. Stoves and barbecues are permitted.

Firewood: Gathering is prohibited. Firewood is not available for purchase within the park. Please bring your own firewood.

Showers: Showers are quarter operated. $0.25 per minute (2-minute minimum)

RV Sanitation Station: Park offers a free dump station and non-potable water refill for campers not in full-hook up sites. It is located at the entrance to the group campgrounds, across from the campfire center.

Boat Camping

All boat campers must register at the South Shore Entrance Station located on the Fresno side of the lake. Boat campers will not be allowed to register at the North Shore campgrounds or Millerton Marina. Registration must be completed 1½ hours prior to the park’s closing hour. Vehicles registered to current slip holders, or their guests will be allowed to park at the Millerton Marina. Nonslip holders must park at the South Shore parking lots.

Registered boat campers may remain on their boats overnight, provided the boat is secured within a designated mooring area by the close of regular park day use hours. Designated mooring areas are North Finegold Creek, San Joaquin River Channel, and Temperance Flat. Boat camping is not permitted in Winchell Cove Marina. Boat campers must stay on their vessels. Vessels must have approved self-contained sanitation device on board. Seats equipped with throw-away plastic bags are not approved. The holding tank must possess a tight and perfect closure.

Shore camping is permitted at Temperance Flat when water level is above 520’, prohibited everywhere else.

Temperance Flat Boat-In Campgrounds

Temperance Flat Boat-in campground offers chemical toilets, tables, and campfire rings, much like a standard campsite except it is only accessible by boat. The campgrounds can accommodate up to 25 boaters. Campers must moor their vessels within the bay of Temperance.

This campground is closed when the lake level drops below 520’.
