Can I Gold Pan?

Yes, gold panning is allowed in the park, hands and pans only. Read the regulations here.

Can I picnic in the park?

Yes, there are several locations in the park with picnic benches available.

Can I BBQ in the park?

Due to high fire danger, fire restrictions may be in effect. Please contact the office before your visit for current regulations.

Can I bring glass/alcohol to the park?

No, glass and alcohol are both prohibited in the Park.

Does my park pass work here?

The California Poppy Pass and California Explorer Pass are valid at our park. National Park passes, and the Interagency Pass (America the Beautiul) are not valid.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are allowed, but must be leashed. They are not allowed at Family Beach (downstream of the covered wooden bridge).

Can I fly my drone?

Flying drones is not permitted on State Park property.

Can I ride my bike or horse?

There are no bike or horse accessible trails in our park. Visit nearby Empire Mine State Historic Park for horse accessible trails.

Can I hunt or fish in the park?

There is no hunting permitted in the park. Fishing is allowed with propper permitting. A DFW permit is required for persons 16 years and older. The day limit is 5 fish per person, minimum of 10 inches. Fish likely to be found are Northern Pikeminnow, Bass, and Trout. Due to the dam on the river at Lake Englebright, we do not have native anadromous fish (Spring-run Chinook Salmon, Steelhead, or Green Sturgeon)
