Volunteers keep Railtown rolling! There are over 100 year-round volunteers at Railtown performing a wide range of duties.

Opportunities to volunteer at Railtown include:


Train Crew	Car Host	Concessions


Ticket Agent	Station Master	Maintenance & Restroration


School Days	Deck Interpretation	Living History


Tour Guide	Roundhouse Host	And more!

Volunteers are expected to attend training, acquire an appropriate historic costume for their position(s), and contribute at least 50 hours annually.

Polar Express

There are short-term volunteer opportunities at Railtown, including supporting The Polar Express™. This is a fundraising event run by the California State Railroad Museum Foundation.

If you become a year-round volunteer, your volunteer hours for Polar Express will be added to your annual committment for volunteering at Railtown.
