Spring Session

Due to low staffing, Spring Session is cancelled for the 2023 season.

Our Spring After School Session offers more advanced skills than the typical summer session. The program typically runs Monday through Friday from 4:30 - 6:30 PM. We provide wetsuits for this session due to weather conditions. The spring session offers a lifeguard showcase to learn about the various duties State Parks Lifeguards get to do, as well as advanced skills in radio communication and medical response. Furthermore, interview skills and resume writing workshops are included in the session followed by mock interviews to help JGs prepare for Assistant tryouts or State Parks Lifeguard tryouts.

Spring Session Special Events

Dive Days

Spring Session Dive Days will be held at Negro Bar State Beach.

JGs will learn about diving near rock formations, equalizing, and learn about hazardous unguarded beach locations.

Wetsuits will be provided.

Interview/Resume Workshops

Interview and Resume workshops to prepare JGs for assistant tryouts.

JGs will learn about what information they should be prepared to share about themselves in the interview and have a hands on opportunity to create their own resume and practice interview skills.

We encourage JGs to bring electronic devices (laptops, tablets, etc) so that they may begin typing their resume during the workshop time. Paper templates will be available for those unable to bring devices.

Mock Interviews

Mock Interviews will be held at the end of the session, as a chance for JGs to apply the skills they've learned throughout the session. Mock Interviews are a great opportunity for JGs to prepare for their assistant interviews.

Spring Classic

The spring classic is the spring session version of an 'Iron Guard'. It is a rigorous physical event that showcases all of the hard work JGs have put in throughout the session. Parents are encouraged to come spectate the event and cheer on their child.
