Volunteer

Do you enjoy nature and being outdoors? Do you want to share knowledge with others and promote conservation and stewardship? This is your opportunity to join our team of dedicated volunteers who rove the trails, interact with visitors, host at the staging area and in general contribute to the inspiration, education and enjoyment of park visitors. California State Parks depends on volunteers to help as:

  • Docents: Learn about the magnificent old-growth redwoods and Big Basin’s amazing recovery after the 2020 CZU Lighting Complex Fire, then share your knowledge with the public. For more information, email bigbasin@ports-ca.us

  • Wilderness Patrol: Hike or mountain bike into scenic backcountry, interact with park visitors, and report trail conditions to Parks staff. For more information, email wildernesspatrol@ports-ca.us

  • Trail Crew: The Big Basin Volunteer Trail Crew makes it possible for others to safely enjoy the beauty of the park by assisting with trail restoration and maintenance. For more information, visit www.bbvtc.org
