Volunteer in the Redwoods

Butano State Park offered volunteer opportunities for those interested in joining the Butano volunteer trail crew. Typical volunteer days include clearing brush along the 40 miles of park trails, removing down trees, and reporting major trail damage to park staff.

Opportunities to support nonprofit groups working on behalf of this park also exist, including Coastside State Parks Association and Save the Redwoods League. On the League’s website, you can learn about other ways to get involved in redwoods protection—including taking a pledge, entering a photo contest, or becoming a citizen scientist.
