All events and our free daily walking tours are temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure under the direction of the Governor of California. We will keep the website updated as information changes.

Old Town San Diego State Historic Park offers a variety of free activities and living history demonstrations for our visitors all year long. Museums are open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday; 5:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. every day in May-September). Due to service reductions during November - April, one of five staffed museums may be closed during weekdays. Museums are closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day; limited museums are open on New Year's Day. Shop and restaurant hours vary; please consult the Shop & Restaurant page for contact information.

We offer a free walking tour at 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. that starts at the Robinson-Rose Visitor Center. The program has a maximum capacity of 25 people and it operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

Featured Living History Throughout the Month

Every Wednesday & Saturday: Blacksmithing plus free activities and demonstrations that are fun and informative.

Tuesdays/Thursdays/Fridays: 11:15 am & 11:45 am: Cygnet Theatre presents a FREE 2-man outdoor performance in the park Plaza. Shows include Pyramus and Thisby, Macbeth, and Hamlet among others (even special holiday performances of Sleepy Hollow and A Christmas Carol).

First Wednesday: Basket Weaving Guild.

First Saturday: The Historic Dance Society social, open to both dancers & spectators.

Second Saturday: The Historic Foodways Guild, demonstrating how people prepared and cooked their food in the 1800s.

Third Saturday: Fiber Arts (carding & spinning wool, weaving, knitting, crochet), Quilting, the Adobe Brickmaking Guild, and various other Californio Living History throughout the park. 

Fourth Saturday: Soap makers (demonstrating historic techniques), the Woodworking Guild, and Mountain Men (music and other activities).

Fifth Saturday: The Victorian Penmanship Guild, demonstrating period writing techniques.
