ADOPT-A-BEACH

This is for groups that would like to participate in more than one clean-up a year. The Adopt-A-Beach program has groups dedicate 3 days a year to help keep our beaches clean and upon completion of your third clean-up, your group receives a certificate of recognition. School groups can fulfill the obligation with a single clean-up. This activity is sponsored by the California Coastal Commission.

For groups other than schools, choose 3 monthly clean-up dates in a year. Fill out the Application with the dates you plan on attending. For schools, attach the Adopt A Beach Addendum to your Reservation Request.

LITTER GETTERS BEACH CLEANUP

Come spend the afternoon helping to keep Bolsa Chica State Beach clean!

Litter Getters is an all-ages beach cleanup perfect for kids and adults to get outside at their local state park and make a difference. On this hour-long volunteer event participants will go through a short safety orientation grab supplies and head out on the sand to look for trash treasures with state park staff! At the end of the program each volunteer will receive a prize and the satisfaction that comes with doing a good deed.

Litter Getters is hosted at the picnic tables in the middle of the campground at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Litter Getters starts at 3 pm and ends at 4 pm. This program is completely free and open to all park visitors. You do not need to RSVP to attend - just show up!

If you are coming for the program the best spot to park is next to our concessionaire Beach City Provisions and walk over from there. Provisions is also a great spot to grab a celebratory snack or beverage after the cleanup.

You do not need to bring anything, but for the most comfortable experience we recommend:

- wear layers
- wear a hat
- shoes that you don't mind getting dirty
- bring a hair tie if you have long hair (it can get windy)
- reusable water bottle
- sunscreen

When: Tuesdays, August 8, 15 & 27 at 3:00 pm
Where: Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground - picnic tables

LONG TERM VOLUNTEERS

Long term volunteers are those that would like to give more than 3 days of volunteer work a year. Long term volunteers have helped monitor endangered birds, dune restoration, interact with the public at community programs, and more. Contact Elizabeth.Bailey@parks.ca.gov

SCOUT PROJECTS/OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you are a scout group that would like to give your service to our beach, we have half day, full day, and complex projects available.

If your group wants an activity other than participating in a beach clean-up, we have other opportunities. We are flexible if your group has a special interest.

There are larger, public days of service such as Earth Day at the Beach (April) and Coastal Clean-up Day (September).

For more info about any of these opportunities, please contact Elizabeth.Bailey@parks.ca.gov
