Help protect and preserve some of California State Parks’ most treasured natural and cultural landscapes! Working under the supervision of forestry staff, you'll support forest health and wildfire resilience efforts through fuels reduction, prescribed fire operations, forest stewardship projects, and field crew leadership.

Position: Forestry Assistant II (Permanent Intermittent)
Salary: $31.43 - $44.75 per hour

Additional Details:
• Permanent Intermittent position that may work up to 1,500 hours per calendar year
• Position is not eligible for telework
• Frequent hiking on steep terrain while carrying field equipment
• Work performed in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme temperatures
• May be exposed to fire operations, dirt, dust, fumes, loud noises, and other outdoor environmental conditions

Interpretation
Interpretation is a special form of communication that helps people understand, appreciate, and emotionally connect with the rich natural and cultural heritage preserved in parks. It is the mission of interpretation in California State Parks to convey messages that initially help visitors value their experience, and ultimately will foster a conservation ethic and promote a dedicated park constituency.
Facilities & Maintenance
Facilities are a key element in the realization of the Department’s mission. Facilities staff play a vital role to help keep State Parks visitors safe and preserve our natural, cultural and historical resources. Campsites, trails, visitor centers, museums, roads, water systems, restrooms are all essential in meeting the demands of protecting resources, educating the public, and enabling recreation.

Entrance Station
