Construction of 22 Additional Bike Turnouts to Start June 3, at Mount Diablo State Park

SACRAMENTO, Calif.— California State Parks, in partnership with the California State Parks Foundation, Mount Diablo Cyclists, and community donors, will start construction on Monday, June 3, on 22 new bike turnouts at Mount Diablo State Park (SP). Once completed, these 22 new turnouts will bring the total turnouts in the park to 67. Turnouts allow bicyclists, who move at slower speeds as they pedal uphill, to pull out of the main traffic lane into their own lane so that vehicles can pass safely.

Mount Diablo State Park Temporarily Closes North Gate Road During Emergency Road Slide Repair

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.— California State Parks today announced the temporary closure of North Gate Road at Mount Diablo State Park to pedestrians, vehicles, equestrians and bicyclists. The road will be closed May 19 through mid-September to stabilize and rebuild a section damaged by the 2023 winter storms.

New Road Safety enhancements at Mount Diablo State Park

Mount Diablo, Calif.— The California Department of Parks and Recreation is celebrating the completion of 30 new bike turnouts at Mount Diablo State Park. These turnouts allow bicyclists, who move at slower speeds as they pedal uphill, to pull out of the main traffic lane into their own lane so that vehicles can pass safely. This priority project was funded by Senate Bill 129, spearheaded by Senator Steve Glazer (D-Orinda).
