Kincade Fire, Public Safety Power Shutoffs Force Closures of State Parks in Northern California

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California State Parks has closed a number of state parks due to the Kincade Fire and/or Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) in Northern California. Camping reservation holders have been contacted with cancellation information. Some parks remain open, but with limited services.

The public is advised to avoid the following parks and any other areas that are closed during this time:

Closed State Park Units

  • Armstrong Redwoods
  • Austin Creek
  • Bale Grist Mill
  • Bothe-Napa
  • Fort Ross
  • Jack London
  • Kruse Rhododendron
  • Marconi Conference Center
  • Mount Tamalpais
  • Olompali
  • Petaluma Adobe
  • Robert Louis Stevenson
  • Salt Point
  • Sonoma
  • Sonoma Coast
  • Sugarloaf Ridge
  • Trione-Annadel

OPEN with Limited Services

  • Angel Island: Open, but no ferry service.
  • China Camp: Open for day-use only. The pier at the village is closed due to damage from record high waves.
  • Samuel P. Taylor: Both the park and campground are open, but power is out.
  • Tomales Bay: Open, but power is out.

Due to the active nature of the wildfire and PSPS, the public is advised to always check ahead, as conditions may evolve rapidly. State Park Peace Officers are patrolling the evacuated parks and assisting in mutual aid.

California State Parks is honored to help support the communities impacted by the wildfires and assist CAL FIRE and local law enforcement agencies.

Today, Governor Newsom launched a new state website with tools and resources for Californians who have been impacted by wildfires and utility-directed power shutoffs. The website www.response.ca.gov is a one-stop portal that includes local and state resources, health services, shelters and housing, preparedness information and more. For the latest information on state park units affected, please visit www.parks.ca.gov/Incidents.
