Experience the old growth Bishop Pine forests of Tomales Bay like never before as we delve into the fascinating world of fire ecology! Our guided hike offers a unique opportunity to understand the vital role fire plays in maintaining healthy forest ecosystems. Perfect for nature enthusiasts, families, and anyone interested in environmental science, this hike combines education with the tranquility and beauty of Tomales Bay's forests. 

To get to the Heart's Desire Beach parking lot, continue on the main road for about a quarter mile past the pay station at the entrance to the park. Entrance to the Heart's Desire parking area will be on your left. Participation in the hike is free, standard parking/day use fees apply.  

Who can join?

This guided hike is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Registration is not required.

*Please Note*  This 2.6 mile loop hike is moderate, with some steep uphill sections and take about an hour and a half to complete. No dogs are allowed on this trail. Participants should dress accordingly for the weather, pack water, sunscreen, and snacks/lunch. Hiking boots/sturdy shoes HIGHLY recommended.
