*HEAT ALERT: With temperatures set to exceed 110 degrees throughout much of the state this week, California is urging everyone to take extra precautions as they celebrate the Fourth of July. Governor Newsom has directed the Office of Emergency Services to activate its State Operations Center. Read about how California is preparing for this heatwave. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for parts of California from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, through Sunday, July 7, at 8 p.m. PDT. Caltrans is conducting 24 hour, 7 days a week loud construction on Highway 28 around the area of Tahoe SRA campground for the remainder of the summer. Contact Reserve America for more information or to cancel.
Reservations for 2024 can be made 6 months in advance - Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day Weekend (weather dependent)

The campground has 23 campsites with picnic tables, required-use food storage containers. Campground allows trailers up to 15' and RV/Campers up to 21'.
There are showers and restrooms available for registered campers.
Tahoe SRA does not have hook-ups or dump stations and is best for tent camping or the use of small trailers and small RVs.
The campground is considered urban and alongside Hwy 28 in Tahoe City.

Food Storage Locker Information - Important and required.
All food, beverages, toiletries, and trash containing food/smells are required by law to be stored in provided food lockers except when food is being prepared or eaten. Black bears are currently very active as they are just waking from a long winter and are very interested in ALL items that smell like food. Metal bear-resistant food lockers are provided in each campsite. Ice chests may NOT be stored in vehicles and shall be stored in the food storage locker. The inside dimensions of the food lockers 36" deep, 43" wide, and 22" high. Violations will be cited.
Attention: Bear-Proof Cooler Owners 
BEAR-PROOF COOLERS (Yeti, Pelican, Yukon etc.) MUST be secured with locks per manufacturer instructions in order to meet Interagency Grizzly Bear 
Committee (IGBC) standards. Failure to do so may result in a Food Storage Citation and up to a $1000 Fine Title XIV CCR 4323(b). It is recommended that a cable lock is also used to attach the bear cooler to a non moveable item. Bears are known to take off with and/or toss coolers around to try to open them. There is a bike path that leads from the campground into town with picturesque views of Lake Tahoe.
