Update: July 28, 2023

California State Parks is currently engaged in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) process, an essential step to obtain the required permits for the Transcendence Theater Company's return to Jack London State Historic Park (SHP). In close collaboration with our valued partners, the department is committed to navigating this process to uphold the highest standards of environmental review. This rigorous review process is of utmost importance in ensuring the prospect of future performances while safeguarding the invaluable natural and cultural resources that are on the park's grounds.

Throughout this undertaking, it is essential to note that Jack London State Historic Park will remain open to the public, affording visitors continued access to tours and historical sites within its boundaries.

State Parks greatly values and welcomes suggestions from the public. The public comment period which occurs after the release of the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is statutorily mandated, and the department will announce how to submit comments when that step is reached. Please be advised that while State Parks may be unable to respond individually to each suggestion received prior to or after the public comment phase, all input received during the public comment period will be retained for future reference as progress is made in this vital process.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to bring this treasured pastime back to Jack London SHP.
