Litter Getters

Kids, you can make a real difference to help keep California’s outdoors clean! Keeping them clean is good for people and helps protect wildlife. Click the link below for more information on how to participate in this important effort.

California Fishing Line Recycling Program

Fishing line that is not thrown away correctly can kill or injure wildlife and get tangled up on boat motors. You can help keep fishing line out of waterways and the environment by recycling it. There are many fishing line recycling stations across the state where people like to go boating. If your family likes to go boating or fishing, we invite you to tell your parents about the recycling stations. Click here to view the list.

Stow It, Don’t Throw It!: This is a project kids can work on to help the environment and protect wildlife. You can make and give away simple fishing line collecting containers and spread the word about recycling the fishing line. The website explains how you can get involved with this project; you can do the project with your family or with local clubs you may belong to, such as Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts.
