Video Series: Conifers of Long Valley

Conifers are cone-bearing trees with needles rather than leaves and are the most prevelant type of tree in Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness. Long Valley is located on the southeastern flank of San Jacinto Peak at an elevation of approximately 8,400 feet, and thus, is a prime habitat for conifers such as the Jeffrey Pine, Lodgepole Pine, Sugar Pine, and White Fir. Access into Long Valley is easiest from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway; however, it is within a day hike's distance from Idyllwild.
