2019 Wildflower Bloom

With this year’s above average precipitation Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is showing off all its natural glory.  Coastal habitats including Torrey pine woodland, coastal sage scrub, maritime succulent scrub, and maritime chaparral all have unique combinations of wild flowers in full display.  Take special notice of the wild heliotrope (Phacelia distans), Sea Dahlia (Leptosyne maritima), popcorn flower (Cryptantha intermedia), San Diego jewel flower (Caulanthus heterophyllus), and a coastal version of California poppy (Eschscholzia californica).

Please remember, help Torrey Pines State Reserve and do not pick any wildflowers. Picked flowers can't feed insects, feed animals, produce seeds, or help next year's flowers! Also please stay on trail, foot traffic can impede the growth of wildflower populations.

Check out some of the wildflowers!
