Who is managing the volleyball courts in Carlsbad?
CA State Parks-San Diego Coast District manages the volleyball courts in Carlsbad. The volleyball courts at Frazee and Warm Waters are for day use reservations, recurring reservations, tournaments, clubs and clinics.
The volleyball courts at South Ponto are not available to be booked on a recurring reservation. Instead, the South Ponto volleyball courts are available for booking through the special event office on a case by case basis. Email sd.specialevents@parks.ca.gov to reserve a special event at South Ponto.

How do I know what dates are available?
You can view our Google Calendar on our homepage for available dates.
How do I make a reservation?
Email sdvolleyballcourts@parks.ca.gov to reach a State Parks representative to reserve a volleyball court.
Do I have to request a reservation in advance?
It depends. If courts are open, you may use them on a first come first served basis. For guaranteed court use, you would need to request a reservation in advance.
How do I pay for guaranteed use of the courts?
You can pay by check or credit card to the special events office after you have received an approved reservation.
Can I make a recurring reservation?
Yes. Recurring reservations will be chosen by a lottery.
What is the lottery?
The lottery is a fair way for CA State Parks representatives to determine who is awarded a recurring reservation. Recurring reservations will be chosen on a seasonal basis. January-May, June-August, & September-December. For more information on how to apply for the lottery, click here.
I want to have a special event at the volleyball courts, how can I make a reservation?
To make a special event reservation for tournaments, corporate events or other large group gatherings email sdvolleyballcourts@parks.ca.gov.
Can I sublease my reservation to someone else?
No.
Do you provide volleyballs?
No.
Do you provide nets?
Yes.
What can I expect when I come to the volleyball court?
CA State Parks will make every effort to keep poles and nets in place and in good condition.
What if someone is on my court when I have a reservation?
State Parks may not have a representative on site at the time of your reservation. If someone is on your court, courteously tell them that you have a reservation for court use. The schedule is published on our homepage for reference. If the visitors refuse to leave, contact the nearest lifeguard on duty who will call for further help if needed.
What if I want to go play volleyball and I have not made advance reservations?
Court #4 at Frazee Beach and Court #8 at Warm Waters will always* be unreserved courts available for free play on a first come first served basis. If there are no reservations on any of the courts, all courts will be open on a first come first served basis. Please check the calendar on our homepage for scheduled reservations.
