Maintenance Park Aides

The Big Sur Sector, which includes Pfeiffer Big Sur, Andrew Molera and Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Parks, is accepting applications for Maintenance Park Aides.  Come join the park team at three beautiful Big Sur State Parks! Must be able to communicate effectively in English, have a valid CA Driver's License and be willing to clean shower and restroom facilities. Dormitory style housing may be available. Work shifts may include weekends and holidays. State Parks uniform required.

Visitor Services Park Aide
Pfeiffer Big Sur SP, Andrew Molera SP and Julia Pfeiffer Burns SP are accepting applications for Visitor Services Park Aides. Visitor Services Park Aides staff the campground entrance stations and interact with the public. They sell day-use tickets, register campers, operate the computer reservation system, explain rules and regulations, and answer a wide variety of questions from the public. Park Aides are the first people the public see when entering a State Park. You must be prepared to represent State Parks in a positive way. Applicants must be willing to purchase and wear a uniform and conform to grooming standards. Enthusiasm for the mission of State Parks and an appreciation of our natural and cultural heritage are a definite plus. These are great positions for anyone interested in a career in Parks. Training is provided. Hiring process requires fingerprinting and a background check. You must be willing to work day shift or swing shift, weekends and holidays. A 40 hour work week is normal. Limited housing may be available. Applications are accepted continuously. Interviews will be held at Big Sur Station. Phone interviews are available for those living over 100 miles away.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

Camp Host in Big Sur!

Camp host positions available in two parks in beautiful Big Sur. Minimum 4 month commitment of 30 volunteer hours per week for an active and friendly person or couple. Applications will be accepted and considered on a rolling basis. If applying as a couple, please submit an application for each individual.

Andrew Molera State Park
One RV site with full hook ups and one RV site with water and sewer (minimal solar electricity). 35' limit, no pull-through. Both sites are located in an area closed to the public. There is a seasonal hike-in Trail Camp at this park that may open for the summer. Typical responsibilities involve assisting with kiosk operations, parking, trail and beach monitoring. This coastal park is on the west side of Highway 1 and features access to a wilderness beach. Only cell phones on the AT&T network will work. No internet or satellite reception. Hosting opportunities are available year-round. Located approximately 30 minutes south of Carmel. Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park
Five RV sites with full hook-ups along the Big Sur River in a beautiful redwood forest.  35' limit, no pull-through. Approximately 40 minutes south of Carmel, this popular 189-site campground offers hiking trails, river access, waterfalls, a Nature Center, a lodge and restaurant concession. Duties vary and can include camp checks, firewood sales, staffing the Nature Center, kiosk operation and interpretation. Unreliable phone, internet and satellite service, but most local businesses provide adequate internet. Limekiln State Park 

One RV site with full hookups. 25’ recommended maximum due to Highway access, no pull-through. Approximately 1 hour north of Cambria. The site is located near the beach and entrance to the park. There is a ~30 site campground and limited day use parking. Duties vary and can include camp checks, firewood sales, kiosk operation, and interpretation. Unreliable cell service in the area.
