Beaches

Humboldt Lagoons State Park has six miles of wild and windy Oceanside beaches next to Stone, Dry, and Big Lagoons. Ocean conditions are too dangerous for swimming, surfing, or kayaking, but all three are great places to watch sunsets and wildlife. 

Look for marine mammals—including gray whales, harbor porpoises, harbor seals, Steller sea lions, and California sea lions—and birds—including gulls, surf scoters, oyster catchers, pigeon guillemots, murres, marbled murrelets, and brown pelicans. Hundreds of species pass through each year on one of the world’s major bird migration routes, the Pacific Flyway.
