School Field Trips
Interested in bus reimbrsment for a Guided Field Trip?
We partner with the National Parks Service for the Every Kid Outdoor (EKO) program and California's PassPORTS Program to offer bus reimbursement to Title 1 schools!
Baldwin Hills Parklands. Baldwin Hills Parklands is an “island of habitat” surrounded by the second largest city in the country. It features many areas of intact native Coastal Sage Scrub habitat, extensive walking paths and is a wonderful example of what can be done with a site that was formerly used by the extraction industry. It is also situated atop the Newport-Inglewood earthquake fault, serving as a living laboratory for discussion of our local geology. A pre-trip presentation (in-person or virtual) will be scheduled to introduce students to Baldwin Hills Parklands.

Interpretive activities are offered throughout the year. Join us in one of our free outdoor experiences. Please check back here or on Facebook for upcoming opportunities.
Junior Rangers
Kids 7-12 can become Junior Rangers. Come to one program or all of them! Kids have fun and learn about animals, ecology, local history and more on a 45 minute long adventure in the park. Sign up starts at 10:30 am at the Visitor Center. If the program fills up, then a self-guided Junior Ranger program is available. Free program. $6 parking fee.
Experience the beauty of a sunset at Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook! Volunteers, park staff from California State Parks, and the National Park Service will provide an interpretive program, and an accessible hike to the overlook, with optional guided trail hike (2 miles roundtrip).
We recommend dressing weather appropriate, protecting yourself from too much sun, and wearing comfortable walking shoes. You may also want to bring a refillable water bottle to use and refill at the drinking fountains.
