Sat., October 10: Docent led nature walk from the Ricardo Visitor Center. Learn about various plants and their flowers along with the small animals and how they adapted to the harsh desert environment. Meet at the Ricardo Visitor Center at 9:00am
Sat., October 10: China Lake Astronomical Society conducts a "Star Party" for viewing planets, constellations, and other celestial objects in the night sky through some amazing telescopes. Meet at the visitor center parking lot area beginning at dusk.
Sat., October 17: Docent led nature walk from the Ricardo Visitor Center. Learn about various plants and their flowers along with the small animals and how they adapted to the harsh desert environment. Meet at the Ricardo Visitor Center at 9:00am
Sat., October 17: Professor Jack Tseng, is a paleontologist, Curator of the University of California Museum of Paleontology and Associate Professor in Integrative Biology at UC Berkeley. Dr. Tseng has generously offered to lead a workshop from 9:30am to 3:30pm to inspire educators, and to help teachers better understand paleontology in the amazing environs of Red Rock Canyon State Park. Hiking will be on moderate trails for a total 2-mile-round trip. Attendees should be in good condition for hiking and walking on uneven terrain around the park. Discussion on geology and paleontology will take place during the hike and around the park. Showing school ID will be required at registration for attending educators.
