California Indians from around the area joined us at our annual Gathering of Honored Elders.  This day at the State Indian Museum is to honor our elders who keep the traditions, stories, languages, and cultures of Native California alive for the generations that follow them.  The event was held on Saturday, June 2nd, 2007 on the grounds of the museum.

Guest speakers spoke of the commitment of the elders, California Indian dancers performed and a Governor's Proclamation of Honored Elders Day was presented.  Native American community service groups operated information booths and vendors had arts and crafts for sale.
