Tours for 4th - 6th grades only


The "Horses to Horsepower Program,"  presented in the "first-person,"  teaches the conception, construction, completion and consequences for California of the Transcontinental Railroad.

Tour Size:

Limited to 45 students per group (including chaperons)

Adult Supervision Requirement:
1 adult per 10 students.

Tours are by reservation only.

Handicap Accessible.

Tour Start Location:
West of the Railroad museum, near the river, at Front and "J" Streets, Old Sacramento.

Bus Parking:
Buses should leave groups in front of the Railroad Museum. Bus parking is available in the museum's parking lot. Automobiles use  the city parking lot, under I-5, enter from " I " Street under the freeway. City parking charges apply.

Program Fee:
$40 per school group.  Program fee is payable, by check only,  to "Calfornia State Railroad Museum Foujndation" on day of visit.
