Volunteers being trained to work with school groups at Will Rogers SHP.

Become A Will Rogers Docent!

We’re always excited about the possibility of people joining us because Will’s story is a great story to impart to the world. Whether you enjoy working with the public, or are seeking a rewarding volunteer experience, or perhaps you’re drawn to learn more about California history and the American West, Western art and architecture, cowboys and ranch traditions, Native Americans, horses and horse sports, the early development of the “Hollywood Industry” and . . . how Will Rogers fits into all of this, there might be a neat opportunity and spot for you here at Will’s place.

The volunteer docents at our park lead tours of the Will Rogers historic ranch house and the historic ranch grounds. They work with visitors from all around the world and “all walks of life.”  They also conduct research related to Will Rogers, his ranch, as well as his life and times.  Our docents are generally asked for a commitment of 3 tours a month culminating in 36 hours of public service per year.

If this sounds like something you’d like to help offer as part of the California State Parks team here at Will’s ranch, please contact the park interpretive staff at wr.interp@parks.ca.gov or call (310) 230-2024 for more information about joining Will’s team.
