Recording Ghost Town Buildings

Bodie State Historic Park
is a ghost town from the 1800s. None of the buildings are restored or have been 'fixed up'- they are left just as they were when the town became a park in 1960, many years after the inhabitants of Bodie left. To keep the buildings from falling down, however, we need make sure they are stabilized.

Archaeologists work with architects to record the buildings with photographs and measured drawings to plan for careful stabilization that will protect the buildings while changing them as little as possible.
