Lustre ware was most popular between 1810 and 1840. Lustre is created when an acidic solution containing gold or platinum is applied to a vessel before firing. The platinum solution produces a bright silver surface. The gold solution will produce a copper or gold finish when applied to a dark surface while an iridescent pink will be produced when applied to a white surface.
