Since 1975, the Monterey State Historic Park Association has served Monterey State Historic Park and helped deliver creative public interpretive programs. The Association supports operation of the Cooper Museum Store, located at the Cooper-Molera Adobe (525 Polk Street) in the heart of downtown Monterey. The store is run on an all-volunteer basis, and remains open virtually every day of the week throughout the year. All funds raised help underwrite educational programs at Monterey State Historic Park such as the Summer Children's Program: Los Ninos de Monterey Viejo.

Monterey State Historic Park Association also underwrites a number of interesting events during the year, one of the most popular being the annual "Christmas in the Adobes", a candlelight walking tour taking visitors through twenty historic buildings, all decorated with a unique theme and lit by lanterns. Many buildings furnish live entertainment reflecting the buildings' historic past: Jalisco harp at an 1840s Mexican California adobe, or classical guitar at the 1830s American consul's home.

The Monterey State Historic Park Association has proven itself to be a valuable asset to the visitors and staff at Monterey State Historic Park. Join them by becoming a member!  They invite you to visit their website and participate by becoming an association member.
