MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a California driver license valid for the operation of any combination of vehicles. (Applicants who do not possess this license will be admitted to the examination but must secure the license prior to appointment.)

and
Two years of experience in operating heavy motorized equipment (including such equipment as the D7 and D6 bulldozers and heavy duty transport trucks) which shall have involved some work in rugged terrain.

Knowledge of: Operation and use of heavy motorized construction and maintenance equipment with special reference to bulldozers and heavy duty transport trucks; methods, materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair of light automotive equipment; methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in preventive maintenance and servicing of heavy equipment and trucks; provisions of the California Vehicle Code as they apply to the operation of trucks and other heavy motorized equipment; road construction and maintenance practices; safety practices in the use of heavy equipment particularly in heavily populated areas; operation of equipment under a wide variety of working conditions including work in snow and in heavy sand.

Ability to: Follow written and oral directions, keep simple records, train others in the operation of a variety of equipment and supervise the work of others.

SPECIAL PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Willingness to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays and to work long hours under emergency conditions; normal hearing and visual acuity with or without glasses of not less than 20/40; normal use of both hands and feet and physical strength and agility.
